You look at all the characters from the 2007 film and can pretty much instantly tell what they transform into and get a general gist of how (except Frenzy and somewhat Megatron). On the other hand, the AoE characters are mostly just humanoid robots with vague vehicle details slapped in random spots. They had kibble and fairly logical parts placements and you could see where everything went (though they did use some mass shifting on some kibble pieces.) Say what you will about the Bayverse designs, but the original trilogy characters (mostly) all looked like they could actually transform. Does he look like a Transformer? Absolutely not. Most of the AoE designs suck, it's not a Lockdown specific problem, it's a design philosophy problem.ĭoes he look cool? Sure. Then Lockdown shows up and makes the universe feel like theres a lot more going on. Everything else in the films is a handful of good guys and a handful of bad guys and occasionally an empty, dead planet. The design sucks, that's an objective fact. Hes my favourite as he makes the transformers universe feel larger than what we see on screen.
